Dee Bennie Marshall is to be our Director/Choreographer and comes very highly recommended by NODA and from many people who have seen her work.   She lives semi locally and so will be available at all our rehearsals.  Dee has Directed in Wakefield, Rotherham and her Youth Theatre have performed at the Disney Park in Paris on more than one occasion.   Dee is full of enthusiasm and looking forward to working with us and making her mark in Sheffield, a city that she has not directed in.

We welcome back Anna Wright as our Musical Director and Claire Harriott as our Assistant Choreographer/Dance Captain.  We know that the three ‘ladies’ will work well together and combine to make the season hard work, but very enjoyable.

This amateur production is presented by permission of Joseph Weinberger Limited on behalf of Music Theatre International of New York.

STOS are about to embark on their 105th production. Disney’s Beauty and the Beast will be performed at the Lyceum Theatre from the 16th – 20th November.

Beauty and the Beast is essentially a children’s fairy tale, so the opportunity to support a local children’s charity seemed too good to miss.

PACT (Parents’ Association of Children with Tumours and Leukaemia) was formed in 1977 by a group of parents who recognized the need to provide mutual support to children and their families at a very difficult time in their lives. They provide a “Home from Home” a few minutes walk from Sheffield Children’s Hospital where families can stay and at least have some measure of normality in their lives whilst attending the hospital for treatment. The charity does invaluable work combating boredom, one of the biggest enemies during cancer treatment by providing toys, TV’s and videos for the children to use as well as organizing outings to events such as football matches and in this case a trip to the theatre.

100 children and parents will be at the Lyceum on the 20th November to watch Beauty and the Beast and if the reception that two of the cast received when they paid a call to PACT House is anything to go by, everyone is in for a great time!. Craig Lawton who is to play The Beast and Catherine Harban who is playing the part of Belle, pictured here with, Adam Blackwell, Hannah Morley, Oliver Evans and Connor Evans, spent some time chatting and playing with the children. Both Craig and Catherine are looking forward to performing for them.

The show will be a delight for children of all ages, with beasts, princes and princesses, talking candlesticks and other assorted furniture as well as the huge, show stopping number “Be our Guest” a rousing tune performed by plates, spoons, knives, forks, dishes and just about every other kitchen utensil imaginable.
